The people behind Wonder Voice™

Nora Richman is a Reading & Literacy Specialist. Before Wonder Voice™ existed she had already sat through more than 7,000 one-on-one live reading sessions with public and private school students in grades K–5 — thousands of hours of listening to real children read aloud, word by word, and learning exactly when to step in and when to simply wait.

Those hours taught her two things. The first is that a child’s grade says almost nothing about the skill they actually need next. The second is that the magic is in the story. Storytelling was always her favourite part of a session, and the children’s too — the moment a child stops performing and starts caring what happens next is the moment reading clicks. Sounds, words, fluency and comprehension all grow faster inside a story a child wants to finish than inside any worksheet.

She founded Happy Youthful Minds© to give families that same warmth at home, and built WONZY™ to be the patient listener most evenings do not have room for — a friendly voice companion who never sighs, never rushes and never makes a child feel behind.

Underneath the friendliness sits serious structure: the Reading Mastery Propellor™, aligned to Hollis Scarborough’s Reading Rope (2001) and the National Reading Panel, which follows phonemic awareness, phonics and decoding, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension across 28 foundational skills. Parents see what their child is practicing and what is growing — described in plain language, never as a score.
